Chapter I - La Source
The journey from first sketch to your wardrobe.
DESIGN
Each design begins as an equation: timeless style × cultural depth × modernity. For Chapter I, inspiration draws from Amazigh geometries and the landscapes of a 5-month sabbatical: Thailand’s underwater blues, Oman’s Jebel peaks, Japan’s precision. In our New York studio, sketches evolve from pencil to digital, using AI to test proportions across body types.
FABRIC SELECTION
We source high-quality natural fabrics through long-established distributors in New York City: Japanese poplins, Australian wools, refined silks, selected for longevity, drape, and movement. Working with these suppliers allows us to test fabrics in small quantities, reducing excess and minimizing waste.
PATTERN MAKING
Our patterns are crafted in New York by an expert with 40+ years of experience across luxury womenswear. The process includes multiple fittings and refinements to ensure proportional harmony, ease, comfort, and a flattering silhouette. Every curve, angle, and seam is placed with purpose.
MOROCCAN TRIMS
Trims are produced in Morocco using traditional Sfifa weaving techniques; a narrow, ornamental braid hand-woven on manual looms and practiced for centuries in Moroccan couture. Each braid is crafted thread by thread, then shipped to New York, where it is hand-applied during finishing to ensure precision, alignment, and durability. This process connects enduring craftsmanship with modern construction standards.
CONSTRUCTION
Garments are cut and assembled in small batches within New York’s Garment District. Construction follows luxury standards: precise seam allowances, reinforced stress points, clean finishing, and controlled pressing to ensure structure, drape, and durability. Each piece undergoes individual inspection before leaving the atelier.
PACKAGING
Packaging is built from eco-conscious materials: durable woven labels, recyclable hangers, low-impact tissue and FSC-certified mailer boxes.
